Inhaltsangabe: Einleitung: Die Fachzeitschriften des Speditions- und Logistikgewerbes sind derzeit gefüllt mit Beiträgen zu E-Commerce-Lösungen, wobei es in aller Regel darum geht, physisch greifbare Produkte über das Medium Internet zu vertreiben und den Logistikdienstleister in dieses Geschäft so einzubinden, daß er schnell und sicher für den Transport der bestellten Waren vom Versender zum Empfänger sorgen kann. Eine Betrachtung, die bisher seltener publiziert wurde, besteht in der Überlegung, wie die Logistikdienstleister ihre eigenen Leistungen, die natürlich anders geartet sind als die der produzierenden Unternehmen, verstärkt mit Hilfe von Internet und E-Mail verkaufen können. Der Verkauf dieser Dienstleistungen an neu zu gewinnende Kunden ist bei weitem nicht die einzige Aufgabe, die sich in diesem Zusammenhang den Vertriebsmitarbeitern der Logistikunternehmen stellt. Darüber hinaus müssen zwingend neue Instrumente zur Kundenbindung und natürlich zur Marktforschung eingesetzt werden. Vor diesem Hintergrund sollen die folgenden Ausführungen im Anschluß an die Darstellung der wichtigsten Grundlagen des Verkaufs von Speditions- und Logistikdienstleistungen einige neue Vertriebsansätze, die auf der Nutzung von Internet und E-Mail basieren, aufzeigen. Dabei sind die Wünsche der Nachfrager ebenso zu betrachten wie aktuelle Tendenzen im Gewerbe. Es soll versucht werden, die wesentlichen Chancen und Gefahren dieser Entwicklung darzustellen. Letztendlich ist es aber Aufgabe der Unternehmen im Sektor Spedition, Transport und Logistik zu entscheiden, in welchem Maße von den Alternativen zum klassischen Vertrieb Gebrauch gemacht werden soll. In dieser Arbeit werden die Möglichkeiten der Informationstechnik vor allem inhaltlich angesprochen. Die technischen Realisierungsarten bleiben weitgehend unberücksichtigt, da sie direkt im Fachbereich Informatik anzusiedeln sind, wo häufig bereits Ideen und Lösungen, vor allem der Softwarehersteller, vorliegen.
