About the Book

Invocations of a poetic muse is a poetry book by James Darwin Smith II. You will see poems of years ago to poems of not that long ago. Poetry is a love and passion for James Darwin Smith II. He has been writing for years in which he did not share till 2000. So here you will see a collection of some of his work. Poetry in fact has done so much for him in his life. He invokes as much as he canBringing forth many different poems expressing from his heart, mind and soul. A voice if you will for him. Something that helps him in life. From love to depression to light and beyond. James writes whatever he feels at the moment; wherever his muse travels he listens to it. He grows from it. These are poems in fact by someone who is anti-social in presence. So it gives him a huge voice.A voice of words he can share with the world while exploring the freedom of expression for the love of poetry and the honor he has from it being a prevalent in his life as it is. Such a release it is. Creating, sharing the passion that burns inside. The essence for this very muse gifts him. Makes him humble in where he is overjoyed by creating words the best that he can. Growing up he was silent. So silent was too shy to speak. Wrote poetry as a young kid but never really shared any of it. Threw it away sadly. But come 2000 he kept every write. So this is a collection of some of those poems from then to now. The feelings to release such words are beyond words themselves. James indeed writes from his heart, mind and soul. When he writes his heartbeat beats with the writing of the pen. His mind's cogs turn and turn and turn and his soul flies as far as it could ever go. I cannot say enough of how important poetry is to him. Too important at times. So what will you see in this book? Nothing really dark though he writes dark. But here is more say light and feelings and just mind bending fun. He delves into words like a mad scientist at times. Conjuring up what he can. But always coming out anew with a fresh mind. And a resurgence of energy as well. I mean it's really hard to explain what a muse does for someone but James does his best to explain his muse in words. Breathing into the airs of creativity. Diving into his feelings and emotions. Striving to better himself each time. And that you will see here. A sort of evolution of one James Darwin Smith II. Using his own flaws even in the essence of all his strengths and weaknesses. Sharing his hope and dreams. His up and downs. Defying the logics of grammar from time to time. And you shall surely see that in some of his poetry. And you may notice his poems may differ many times. That goes with the whole mad scientist thing. But happiness in the madness he creates as it brings him poetic salvation. He worked hard on making this book the best that he can. Does it show? Only time will tell, Time will tell indeed as poems are a history lesson for a poet as it could be for those who read that very poet as well. Poetry just takes you to a whole different universe; a whole different realm really, is writing poetry a gift? James is more on it being an honor but of course, a giant limitless honor at that. I mean it's so much easier to write poetry for him than talk to people. He speaks softly and carries a big pen. Full of metaphors of inner truths of who he is and dare I say opinions he may have on matter or just sharing his love for Nature and love itself. Poetry is indeed very important to him, me in fact. A great essential part of who he, I is. Being able to write through first persons to second persons to even third is such a rewarding thing in itself. So upon reading this I remind you to indeed keep a very open mind if you had to chose what there was to open upon you opening this very book. You might not understand some of the things written or you many understand it and relate with things written inside. What a beautiful thing poetry is in it's many forms it brings us by words innovating through imagery Love
