About the Book

It's tough to be the new kid in town when you're in the third grade. That is until you meet the girl next door. That is where the story of two best friends begins. Where it ends is someplace you probably won't believe. One thing is for sure. Every new kid in town needs a best friend like Vivi Anne.

Vivi Anne is fearless and irreverent and doesn't pay a lot of attention to what anyone thinks while Ima Dean, the new kid, is only concerned about keeping up appearances and making sure that nobody knows her secrets.

When you add a third friend into the mix that may be completely oblivious to the fact that you're putting her in danger the mix is delicious. Marvel Gaye is a little older and helps balance these two girl's friendships. However, she does so in true Mr. Magoo style.

One drinks, one smokes, one prays and they all eat! They all love each other except for the days when they hate each other.

They may share a history and they certainly can't imagine their lives without one another but that doesn't mean they share political, economical or religious views. Join the journey as they eat, drink and live independently, yet manage to find a balance that allows them to love and respect one another.

The journey contained within the pages of this book will explore their love lives, their finances and their world views. The one thing I hope you will see is that it is possible to love one another even though you come from very different backgrounds and share very different views.

These girls are never afraid to try something new and even more so are not afraid to stand by what they know has been tried and is true.

When Vivi Anne befriends a battered young woman and has the audacity to bring her home for safekeeping her two best friends and maybe the entire community questions her sanity. She remains undeterred in the face of skepticism and does what she thinks is best.

While her sanity is being brought into question all three of their lives are exposed for exactly what they are. These are three seemingly very ordinary women, living seemingly ordinary lives. What unfolds is extraordinary. You are in for the ride of a lifetime. Buckle up hop into the backseat of the fire engine red caddy and let's take a ride.
