About the Author: Prof. A. Narayanamoorthy, former full-time Member (Official), Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi, is presently working as Senior Professor and Head, Department of Economics and Rural Development, Alagappa University, Tamil Nadu State, India. He has previously taught at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune, Maharashtra State, India. Prof. Narayanamoorthy has widely published in the area of irrigation water and agricultural economics. Some of his works include Where Water Seeps!: Towards a New Phase in Indi's Irrigation Reforms (Academic Foundation, 2005), The Water, Energy and Food Security Nexus: Lessons from India for Development (Routledge, 2014), Indian Water Policy at the Crossroads: Resources, Technology and Reforms (Springer Nature, 2016), Micro Irrigation Systems in India: Emergence, Status and Impact (Springer, 2016), Whither Rural India? Political Economy of Agrarian Transformation in Contemporary India (Tulika/Colombia University Press, 2019), and Farm Income in India: Myths and Realities (Oxford University Press, 2021). He has received many prestigious academic awards from different academic societies and worked as a member of the policy committees constituted by the Government of India, New Delhi.
