About the Book

This is the book that has become a cult hit. The breath-taking revelations center on a young boy's opposition to authoritarianism and his subsequent struggle against it to foment rebellion. It is written in the ground-breaking new style of an alternate history book within a police state. The teenager lives in a world where infants are numbered as soon as they are born. The numbers are used to track and control everyone from cradle to grave, and to expropriate them continuously. The bloated government brainwashes each child for more than a decade. Small children are trained to perform bizarre rituals en masse and on command. The indoctrination is so intense that adults continue to perform in a knee-jerk manner on cue for their entire lives. A frightening book written for frightening times. A tale about the fragility of freedom, it is an alarming, eerily timeless look at how fascism could take hold in America. It juxtaposes sharp political satire with the chillingly realistic rise of authoritarianism. It is a shockingly prescient novel in terms that are as fresh and contemporary as today's news. With references to actual historical events and people, the book will have readers wondering which parts are true and which parts aren't. It debunks Sinclair Lewis' book "It Can't Happen Here."

"Do you dare peek inside the twisted noggin of researcher Dr. Rex Curry? The author Todd Conroy lifts the doctor's lid. A glimpse will change you forever. When you are done exploring, will your life return to boring?" - Tumbling Pebble Magazine

About the Author: The author (Todd "Skippy" Conroy) is shrouded in mystery. He is a high school student who was saved from constant abuse in school beginning at the age of 13 by a mental health counselor and some fellow students. To give Conroy continuity between therapy sessions, the counselor suggested that Conroy write down his stories and do research about schools and bullying. That is when this book took shape. Conroy hits a cultural nerve with this semi-autobiographical work, which reveals a bureaucratic ecosystem of bullying, crime, sex, drugs, damaged characters and brainwashing. Conroy's years of abuse started at a school named after "Francis Bellamy," an ex-preacher who wrote the Pledge of Allegiance. Conroy's entire school had been painted to resemble the USA's flag, and an enormous flag pole stood guard in front. While there, Conroy was put through a grueling daily gamut of official indoctrination, exploitation, and general abuse. As a consequence of his years of systemic persecution, Conroy is chronically shy today. Even if Conroy doesn't show his face often, you can still assume that anytime there is an event -and there will be many- he is there, somewhere; you just can't see him. The Pointer Institute for Media Studies (PI) deserves special thanks for "pointing out" many enhancements. PI relied on research by the historian Dr. Rex Curry. The search is on for the many photographs and old film footage showing presidents, members of congress, and other officials on the federal, state, county, and city levels doing the Nazi salute to the U.S. flag. Any reader who knows of such images is asked to send it to: alert-notice@earthlink.net "It Can't Happen Here, by the author Todd Conroy, utilizes research from the work of the historian Dr. Rex Curry. Conroy is a hyperobservant, savagely pop-savvy instigator bent on unmasking our modern political discourse. He is a rare voice capable of speaking to all topics with equal aplomb. The research is a wide-ranging, deeply idiosyncratic tour through the tricky political landscape of robotic voters. This novel explains the authoritarian appeal of all presidents. Conroy shows how Dr. Curry is a pop-culture icon by being a pop-culture iconoclast." - The Royal Academy of Paperback Writers "Dr. Rex Curry is a person-of-interest in the disappearance of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics." - Tiffany Heller
