What can I do to build trust with people? It is frustrating when people don't do what they are expected to, even paid to do. We need the skills to persuade them and hold them accountable. They don't see the big picture, so we must be able to lead them through the process; from getting them on board, to giving them positive feedback when it is completed. A team leader or project manger may be in the position of having "major responsibility" and "minor authority". Persuasion skills are your essential resource. The skills and techniques are very specific down to exactly what words to use to get results, without creating conflict. About the Author: Dick Cochran is a People Skills Expert that develops higher performing teams by creating more effective individuals. In 1994 Dick brought together his twenty-five years of business experience in the Electronic Test & Measurement Industry with the "people skills" he learned in real team applications. He founded COMStar; a Training Company that helps teams and individuals on a world-wide basis become more effective. The skills in his book It Needs To Be Done: How to get others to do it with less hassle and stress; have been thoroughly tested over the years through Dick's work with individual businesses and organizations. His People Skills training programs have created a positive cultural shift for both Government and non-Government clients. In 1997 Dick joined the Denver Mile Hi chapter of PMI (The Project Management Institute) and has been actively engaged in bringing his People Skills to Project Management Professionals.
