It's not going to change one thing

What would happen if it were possible to travel back in time? What dangers might be involved? Would we be able to change history, as we know it? Or is that absolutely impossible? Would we be able to solve a mystery whose answer has lain unknown for 200 years? Would we be able to prevent the evil deeds, which occurred? Would it be right for us to do so? Andrea, a young woman from the 20th century, finds herself transported back in time through her fiancée's carelessness and is thrust into a confusing story that she only knows about from a novel. In 18th century Scotland, she is forced to decide whether to take the role of an observer or to try to change the course of history. In the end, she discovers that she is unable to change anything. She is the sole unknown variable in the story and she is pulled into the whirlpool of events and into a time of living, loving and dying.
About the Author: Iris Heerdegen was born in Rudolstadt/Thüringen in 1960. She grew up in the small village of Meura and spent most of her childhood and adolescence there. Reading was always one of her favourite pastimes and she spent a lot of time in the local library. She was especially interested in classical adventure stories - in the works of writers like Jules Verne, Joseph Conrad, Rudyard Kipling, Alexandre Dumas and Robert Louis Stevenson. It was through Stevenson's writings that she discovered her love for Scotland which at that time was an unreachable goal for someone living in the GDR. After training as a paediatric nurse and then marrying she worked for a while in the miners' hospital and the outpatient department in Gera. She was later employed in the day nursery. Since 1993 she has been working in the surgical department of the Rudolf Elle Hospital in Eisenberg. Reading and writing continued to be her main hobbies although her three daughters left her little time for either. She began to write "It's Not Going to Change a Thing" with the title "A Journey With No Return" though this project was put on hold until her divorce in 1993. It was not until she got a computer that she could continue with this work and only after a lot of historical research that she was able to complete it. In the meantime there is a sequel to the first book and work is being carried out on a third volume. Iris Heerdegen has a special attachment to Scotland and tries to spend her holidays there every year. She is especially interested in the history of the country and in its people. For many years she has been a fan of the Scottish folk-rock band "RUNRIG" and their songs and texts have been a great inspiration to her. It was one of their songs which provided the title for her first book "Nichts wird die Dinge ändern"/"It's not going to change one thing". Other hobbies are photography and painting.
