About the Book

Farmer Joss and her young son need money, and fast. So she and hippy father, Mick, launch a business of guided walks, thinking they'll lead well-paying, serene people through beautiful mid Wales countryside. However, as the guests arrive at their dilapidated farm, Mick's beloved goats fall ill. The vet calls in The Ministry which slaps a quarantine order on the farm and everyone staying there. As the sun beats down, tempers fray and the bureaucracy of The Ministry grinds slow. Joss battles to keep her guests happy whilst struggling with her own demons of debt and exhaustion. It's soon clear that some guests have different agendas, from finding a new partner, to making a new baby and others are only too happy to oblige. It's not until the water dries up, the oil runs out and guests start to disappear that Joss feels things might be getting a little out of hand... From the Kindle bestselling author of Cold Enough to Freeze Cows "Welcome, Lorraine Jenkin, to my handful of favourite chick-lit authors... Thoroughly feel-good writing" The Bookbag Eating Blackbirds, and Chocolate Mousse and Two Spoons "The various twists and turns of each plot meant that I could hardly stop reading each night!" The Western Mail
About the Author: Lorraine Jenkin wanted to be an author long before she did any writing. One Sunday morning she realised it was decision time and that she either needed to get on with it, or find a new dream. So she quit her job, rented out her house and headed for South America with little more than a tent and a toothbrush. In between walking across deserts, fighting with men with knives and getting bitten by massive dogs, she wrote Chocolate Mousse and Two Spoons. On her return, she got a publishing deal with Honno, then real life struck and she got on with writing number two, Eating Blackbirds, amongst the nappies of two little girls. Cold Enough to Freeze Cows was edited with baby number three on her knee. Jam Tomorrow was mulled over whilst pairing socks and rushing home from work. Lorraine's style has been described as being a cross between Tom Sharpe and The Vicar of Dibley. Her stories are set where she lives in rural Mid Wales and she looks for inspiration amongst the happenings and the people around her. "I delight in the everyday unusual," Lorraine says. "The bloke who stands and chats then takes a dead mole out of his pocket, the lady trying to sort her hair whilst covered from head to toe in cow muck, or the guy who carries sachets of MacDonald's sugar in the pocket of his £500 suit. "I always try really hard to craft characters that no-one will have met before in a book. I think it's too easy to make characters that are clichés, so if I feel I have read about these people before, I go back to the beginning and re-hash them until they are unique!" "My aim is to make the reader laugh out loud, maybe shed a few tears and also think a bit about their own life and what is most important to them. I know I have succeeded when the proof-reader's notes include "Spat tea through nose here..."
