Raúl Eduardo Chao (Cuba, 1939-Lakeland, Florida, USA, 2023) fue Secretario General Nacional de la Juventud Estudiantil Católica Cubana mientras estudiaba en las Universidades de La Habana y Villanueva. En el exilio, obtuvo su doctorado en la Universidad Johns Hopkins. Tras trabajar varios años en Esso Research and Engineering, pasó 18 años en el ámbito académico como Profesor Titular y Director de Ingeniería Química en las Universidades de Puerto Rico y Detroit, además de ser consultor e investigador en el Centro Espacial Johnson de la NASA en Houston. En 1986 fundó una consultora dedicada a mejorar el ambiente laboral y optimizar procesos para incrementar simultáneamente la productividad y calidad. El Grupo Systema, bajo su liderazgo, trabajó con empresas Fortune 100 y agencias gubernamentales en EE.UU., Europa, Centro y Sur América. Como presidente de Systema, Chao escribió más de 30 libros sobre gerencia, política, ciencia e historia de Cuba, además de numerosos artículos en periódicos y revistas académicas. Sus novelas históricas, como *Contramaestre* y *Baraguá*, fueron publicadas por Ediciones Universal, junto con el ensayo *Poetas y memoria de Cuba*, que narra la historia de la Isla a través de su poesía. Desde 1985, Chao estuvo listado en *Who is Who in Engineering* y en *American Men of Science*.


Este libro es el tercero de la serie *En búsqueda de la Nación Perdida*, que narra la historia de Cuba a partir de figuras clave como Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, Miguel de Aldama y José Martí. *Jimaguayú*, una novela histórica, nos acerca a Martí y a los cubanos que prepararon la Guerra del 95. Con gran detalle y revelaciones, la obra muestra la lucha desigual por la independencia de Cuba y ofrece una perspectiva objetiva y orgullosa de ese esfuerzo. Además, explora el contexto en el que se firmó la Constitución de 1901 en Jimaguayú, marco jurídico de la guerra proclamada por Martí. Con numerosas ilustraciones en blanco y negro.


Raúl Eduardo Chao (Cuba, 1939-Lakeland, Florida, USA, 2023) served as National Secretary General of the Cuban Catholic Student Youth while studying at the Universities of Havana and Villanueva. After exile, he earned his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University. He worked for Esso Research and Engineering and later spent 18 years in academia as Full Professor and Director of Chemical Engineering at the Universities of Puerto Rico and Detroit, and as a consultant and researcher at NASA's Johnson Space Center. In 1986, he founded a consulting firm aimed at improving workplace environments and optimizing processes to simultaneously increase productivity and quality. Under his leadership, the Systema Group served Fortune 100 companies and various governmental organizations across the U.S., Europe, Central and South America. As Systema's president, Chao authored more than 30 books on management, politics, science, and Cuban history, as well as numerous articles in newspapers and academic journals. His historical novels, such as *Contramaestre* and *Baraguá*, were published by Ediciones Universal, alongside his essay *Poetas y memoria de Cuba*, which portrays Cuba's history through its poets. Since 1985, Chao has been listed in *Who is Who in Engineering* and *American Men of Science*.


This book is the third in the series *In Search of Lost Nation*, depicting Cuba's history from Carlos Manuel de Cespedes, Miguel de Aldama, and Jose Marti. *Jimaguayú*, a historical novel, introduces us to Marti and the Cubans who prepared the 1895 War of Independence. The book, filled with detailed insights, offers a proud, objective view of the unequal struggle for independence. It also delves into the events leading up to the signing of the 1901 Constitution in Jimaguayú, the legal framework of the war declared by Martí. The novel is enriched with black-and-white illustrations.
