Trata-se de uma viagem mágica ao universo de Cage, revelando não apenas a sua música e as suas ideias, mas também quem ele foi como ser humano, as suas relações com o mundo, os seus sonhos. O livro conta, ainda, com textos de Lucrezia De Domizio, a legendária Baronesa Durini, uma das mais importantes personalidades da arte contemporânea do século XX; com um ensaio do genial filósofo da música francês Daniel Charles; com raras fotografias de diversos fotógrafos, entre eles Roberto Masotti, grande amigo de Cage; um ensaio fotográfico inédito de Flavio Matangrana, também conhecido como Matangra, sobre John Cage na Bienal Internacional de São Paulo em 1985; uma autobiografia de John Cage; uma lista das suas composições, dos seus livros, assim como dos livros escritos sobre ele. About the Author: Emanuel Dimas de Melo Pimenta tem sido considerado um importante músico, arquiteto, escritor, fotógrafo e artista intermedia no início do terceiro milênio, segundo manifestações escritas por personalidades como John Cage, Ornette Coleman, Merce Cunningham, René Berger, Daniel Charles, Dove Bradshaw, Phill Niblock ou William Anastasi entre outros. Com diversos prêmios internacionais, mais de cinquenta livros, muitos livros eletrónicos, trinta compact discs, os seus trabalhos têm sido incluídos em importantes coleções de arte e reconhecidas instituições como o Whitney Museum de Nova Iorque, o ARS AEVI Contemporary Art Museum, a Bienal de Veneza, o Cyber Art Museum de Seattle, o Kunsthaus of Zurich, a Durini Contemporary Art Collection, a Bibliotèque Nationale of Paris e o MART - Modern Art Museum of Rovereto and Trento entre outros. Os seus trabalhos estão também incluídos na Enciclopédia Universalis (Britannica) desde 1991, no Sloninsky Baker's Music Dictionary (Berkeley), no Charles Hall's Chronology of the Western Classical Music, assim como no All Music Guide - The Expert's Guide to the Best Cds. Legendários músicos como John Cage, David Tudor, Takehisa Kosugi, John Tilbury, Christian Wolff, Maurizio Barbetti, Audrey Riley e o Manhattan Quartet entre outros têm executado as suas composições. Ele colaborou com John Cage, como compositor commissionado para Merce Cunningham, de 1985 até ao seu desaparecimento em 1992. Continuou como compositor para Merce Cunningham ao longo de cerca de vinte e cinco anos, até a morte de Merce Cunningham em 2009.
