Inhaltsangabe: Zusammenfassung: Journalistische Recherche - als Fundament journalistischer Berichterstattung - hat sich entlang der Verbreitung technischer Vermittlungsmedien wie Telefon, Fax oder Internet verändert. Nach der theoretischen Einordnung der Recherche in die Systemtheorie wurde in der Diplomarbeit „Journalistische Recherche im Internet" empirisch untersucht, wie Fachjournalisten bei Informations- und Telekommunikationsfachmedien das World Wide Web als Recherchequelle nutzen. Die Arbeit bestätigt unter anderem die Hypothese, dass das Internet mittlerweile zum wichtigsten Recherchemedium für Journalisten geworden ist. Ferner stellt sie heraus, inwieweit Journalisten das World Wide Web generell, und verschiedene Webangebote speziell, in den wichtigsten Phasen der Recherche nutzen. Problemstellung: Gute Recherche, da sind sich Theoretiker und Praktiker einig, ist das Fundament kompetenter journalistischer Berichterstattung. Der Rezipient erwartet, dass ihm in den Medien keine Halbwahrheiten oder gar Lügen präsentiert werden, sondern profunde recherchierte und belegbare Inhalte. Hatten Journalisten anfangs nur die Möglichkeit, sich an Ort und Stelle des Geschehens ein Bild zu machen und auch vor Ort zu recherchieren, machen es die modernen Kommunikationsmedien wie Telefon, Fax oder Internet heute leicht, einen Großteil der Recherchearbeit vom Schreibtisch aus zu erledigen. Die E-Mail ist inzwischen zum „alltäglichen Arbeitsmedium der Journalisten geworden." So können heute in sekundenschnelle Dokumente, Texte, Bilder oder auch audiovisuelle Materialien aus dem Netz geladen und weiterverarbeitet werden. Es stellt sich folglich die Frage, welchen Einfluss das Internet auf die klassischen Tätigkeiten beziehungsweise „Verarbeitungsroutinen" des Journalismus „Recherchieren, Selektieren, Schreiben" hat.
