The 'Journey to Rome' is a catalogue of wise counsels for our pilgrimage here on earth. These godly instructions were drawn from Paul's journey to Rome.
Paul was one of the prominent leaders of a religious sect-the Pharisees, which fought against the followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. On his journey to Damascus on a mission to prosecute the followers of Christ, he had a dramatic vision of the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ which led to a total paradigm shift of his religious beliefs and life's mission. He who formerly persecuted Christ and his followers now became one of his leading messengers (Gal 1:23).
Immediately after his conversion he began to preach and teach about Jesus Christ as the Saviour of the world; he went on extensive journeys for this purpose, enduring much hardship on the way. His countrymen were among his chief persecutors, and on a certain visit to Jerusalem, his country people and their religious leaders arrested him and were determined to do away with him.
Seeing that he will not get a fair trial from the court that was set up by the religious leaders in Jerusalem, and being informed of their plan to ambush and assassinate him, he appealed to Caesar and was set on a voyage to Rome.
However, all these were predetermined to fulfill the intent of God who was sending his servant to Rome to testify about the truth(the Lordship of Jesus Christ and his reign upon the whole earth) before Caesar.
This book portrays the several challenges he faced on his way to Rome and how it correlates with our lives journey here on earth as we go in search of fulfillment, justice and peace.
We all need the counsel of our Creator and the Maker of the universe in other to prosper in our ways here on earth.
We shall learn how costly it is to be ignorant of God's ways and to despise the counsel of men who are acquainted with Him. The best of human wisdom and skill will fail us during lives' crisis.
To sail over lives' challenges and arrive safely to our destination, we need a strong faith in God.
Let's beware of false prosperity, for they are the subtle traps of our adversary-the devil to drift us away and hinder us from reaching our God-ordained destiny in this life and that which is to come.
We must suffer a shipwreck on our voyage to Rome, no matter how careful we may try not to; because the actions of others have a way of affecting the rest of mankind even if it be a little. Therefore, we must not only watch our actions but that of others also. Nevertheless, God always devices a way to save the righteous in the day of trouble.
There are numerous comforts and blessings for those who are obedient to the truth of God's ways even in this life. However we must press on to our ultimate goal either in the midst of difficulties or success. We must give ourselves to the things that matters most while we wait for the ship to bring us to the shores of our destination.
May you find the wisdom that will help you navigate lives' turbulent seas as you read this book.
