Länder - Zeitalter Weltkriege, Note: 2,0, Universität Rostock (Historisches Institut), Veranstaltung: Proseminar: Widerstand gegen den NS, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit den Umständen im Warschauer Ghetto, welches nach der Deportation von über 300.000 Menschen in das Vernichtungslager Treblinka eine bedeutende Stellung in der Geschichte des Widerstands einnimmt. Der Begriff "Ghetto" stammt ursprünglich aus der Politik europäischer Städte im Spätmittelalter und der frühen Neuzeit und bezeichnete die Isolierung der Juden innerhalb einer Stadt. Diese sollten innerhalb der Städte räumlich abgetrennt in bestimmten Vierteln, auch Judenviertel genannt, wohnen. Seit der Auflösung dieser Ghettos im Zuge der Emanzipation der Juden im 18. Jahrhundert wurden vor allem jüdische Viertel in osteuropäischen Städten als Ghettos tituliert, diese zeichneten sich durch ihre ärmlichen Verhältnisse aus. In Bezug auf die Ghettos in Polen, die während des zweiten Weltkriegs von der deutschen Besatzungsmacht errichtet wurden, lassen sich jedoch deutliche Unterschiede feststellen. Hier ging es in erster Linie darum, die Juden unter den schlechtesten Lebensbedingungen auf engstem Raum einzusperren. Zunächst wird die allgemeine Ghettoisierung in Polen thematisiert, um eine Einordnung in den historischen Kontext zu gewährleisten. Anschließend werde ich mich explizit mit dem Warschauer Ghetto auseinander setzen. Wie war dieses strukturiert und aufgebaut? Unter welchen Bedingungen lebten und starben die Menschen innerhalb der Mauern, bis es im Sommer 1942 zur ersten Deportation kam? Schlusspunkt dieser Arbeit bildet die Gründung der Widerstandsorganisation im Warschauer Ghetto, die sich in dem 28 Tage andauernden Warschauer Ghettoaufstand entlud. Besonders das Werk "Das Ghetto kämpft" von Marek Edelman, einem der wenigen Überlebenden des Aufstandes, liefert hierfür eine Grundlage. Aber
