Name of the book is KANCHER DIWAL, written in Bengali, meaning in English--wall, made of glass !
It is totally symbolic, as if we are living in a world which looks transparent, but in reality it is not !
This is not a plain glass, it is rippled one. From distance it gives an innocent look, But those who are near
enough, they may get a different look and that may not be a happy experience at all !
There are twenty stories in it. They portrays the life and lifestyles of women everywhere across all walks
of life - whether from the lowest level of income groups to the most affluent households. But there is more in
common across these groups whether they are living on the streets or in palaces or they are semi literate or
or highly educated, they share the same emotions of love, affection, worry, sorrow, dependence, trust and distrust !
These stories of womanhood form the core of this book. But the book also depicts other personas, such as student
in a foreign land, a small puppy's life story, his dependence and lifelong dedication to his adopted mother ! There
is a new subject, reflects some social needs, which gives away decency or morality in the urge of greed ! Lastly
there are few stories of supernatural themes also, not another ghost story, but can not be explained in normal
everyday life.
The Cover Design of this book has a great attraction, it was done by a world famous artist Ms. Millie Basu Roy
from London. I am thankful to her.
Hope, readers will truly enjoy these collection of short stories and feel the characters in this book come to life as
they read the book.
