About the Book

This touching saga comes alive in charming Charleston, South Carolina. The heroine, Catherine Duvall, Khaki, is the quintessential Charleston born native saving her family, and preserving heart-warming traditions while enduring gut-wrenching tragedy. Her brood suffers through generations of childhood scars, alcoholism, bankruptcy, Alzheimer's, and rescue attempts that are filled with suspense and loneliness. Khaki turns tragedy into harmony with her endless love for her husband, sons and daughter. Catherine perseveres as her husband, Carter, distances himself, while enjoying his "toddies." His unearthing of mystifying objects along the beaches and his strange disappearance keeps Catherine searching for answers. She is joined by a family friend, Jack who is her confidant. Endowments and surprises by her children carry on the lowcountry heritage Khaki cherishes. Jack reveals his feelings for Catherine and her mysterious daughter's happy revelation peaks the end.
