About the Book

The Cashmeres are a well-known family providing funeral services to other families in the Harrisburg community of Chicago. In plain sight, it appears as if they've reached the epitome of wealth and success. Unbeknownst to their admirers, the Cashmere family has just as much - or even more dysfunctional issues than some of the clients they serve. Join the Cashmere family and their clients as the story of twin sibling rivalry, deceit, and much more is uncovered as the heir of the Final Rest Funeral Chapel is revealed after the death of the patriarch of the family, Lucas F. Cashmere, Sr.
About the Author: Monica's writing passion began at an early age. In 1995, she wrote her first script for a live stage production presented at her local church, Christ Tabernacle M.B.C. of Austin, Chicago, Illinois. She continued writing poetry, skits, and other live stage productions, i.e. George Washington High School, I Am Love, Guess Who, Friends, My Dance Restored, Raleigh's Hair Hut, The Judgment II-Mark of the Beast, and Down to Business. She has also written scripts for Dudley's Beauty School, Divine Purpose Youth Performing Arts Center, UrHarmoni Community Resource Center and other faith-based organizations. Monica also knew at an early age, that God had bestowed unto her the blessing of using the pen to write about real-life issues to bring to the stage, as another avenue to help others find healing. After the loss of her mother on October 19, 2011, she was inspired by her spiritual belief in God, and a girls' night outing with two of her friends; along with the support of family to return to her passion of writing. In January 2012, she penned the script "Down to Business." Monica is currently working with UrHarmoni Community Resource Center to provide human services programs to families in Chicago and surrounding suburbs. She continues to work with a phenomenal team of professionals to produce live stage productions that portray real life family issues with a positive solution. Kin Folks is her first hand at writing a manuscript for publication; with many others to come. Kin Folks is slated for a live stage production soon.
