Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Kinder und Jugend, Note: 1,3, Universität Karlsruhe (TH), Veranstaltung: Theorien und Konzepte der Multimedialen Kommunikation, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: "Kinder und die neuen Medien" gehören zunehmend zu den wichtigsten Forschungs- und Diskussionsthemen von Pädagogen, Psychologen, Soziologen und anderen Wissenschaftlern. Das geradezu explosive Wachstum, vor allem der elektronischen Medien, wirkt tief greifend auf unsere Gesellschaft ein und sozialisiert vor allem unsere Kinder. Neben dem einfachen Fernsehapparat gibt es in den Haushalten immer mehr Computer mit Internetzugang, Videogeräte, Handys und MP3-Player, die alle auch von Kindern genutzt werden. Die heutige Generation der Kinder ist diejenige, die mit dem bisher größten Medienangebot lebt und aufwächst. Die meisten Kinder sehen täglich fern, beschäftigen sich am Computer oder surfen im Internet und nehmen damit eine Vielzahl an visuellen Eindrücken und Erfahrungen auf. Die Medien greifen heutzutage intensiv in den Alltag der Kinder ein. Die Tragweite all dieser Reize und ihre Einwirkung auf die kindliche Psyche sind noch umstritten und werden kontrovers diskutiert. Im Vordergrund all dieser Kontroversen steht die Frage nach den schädlichen Einflüssen auf die physische und psychische Entwicklung der Kinder. Einerseits behaupten Studien, dass häufiger Medienkonsum die Kinder "verdummt", Gewaltbereitschaft und - durch Bewegungsmangel - Fettleibigkeit (nicht nur bei Kindern) fördert. Andererseits wird davon ausgegangen, dass frühe Medien-Kenntnisse den Schulalltag und das spätere Berufsleben erleichtern könnten. Die vorliegende Arbeit soll einen Überblick über den komplexen Themenbereich "Kinder und die neuen Medien" bieten. Hierbei möchte ich mich auf die beiden Medien Computer bzw. Internet und Fernsehen beschränken. Ziel ist es, festzustellen, ob die negativen Möglichkeiten, die durch neue Medien entstehen, die positiven überwiegen. Es soll insbes
