Magisterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Musik - Sonstiges, Note: 2,3, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (Musikwissenschaftliches Seminar), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Es wäre naiv, zu glauben, dass Komponisten Musik für Kinder aus Sentimentalität oder persönlicher Verbundenheit schreiben. Dies mag in Einzelfällen zutreffen, ist aber sicher nicht die Regel. Vermutlich ist es auch nicht die eigene Kinderlosigkeit, die Komponisten dazu bewegt, ersatzweise für fremde Kinder zu schreiben - auch wenn es der Zufall will, dass die hier näher betrachteten Werke allesamt aus der Feder kinderloser Komponisten stammen. Natürlich ist davon auszugehen, dass eine gewisse Bereitschaft, sich auf Kinder einzulassen und sich mit ihnen zu beschäftigen, gegeben sein muss. Was Komponisten aber konkret motiviert, für Kinder zu komponieren, und welchen Einfluss diese Motivation auf die Gestalt des Werkes übt, soll in dieser Arbeit ergründet werden. Berücksichtigt werden dabei drei musikdramatische Kompositionen für Kinder aus dem 20.Jahrhundert, die aber lediglich einen winzigen Ausschnitt aus dem Spektrum derartiger Werke darstellen: WirbaueneineStadt von Paul Hindemith(1930), Brundibár von Hans Krása(1938) und Peter Maxwell Davies' Cinderella(1980). Diese Werke sollen im Folgenden in chronologischer Reihenfolge untersucht werden, um mögliche geschichtliche Zusammenhänge und Entwicklungen berücksichtigen zu können. Den drei hier zur exemplarischen Untersuchung herangezogenen Kompositionen ist gemein, dass Kinder nicht nur das angesprochene Publikum sind, sondern zudem als Akteure auf der Bühne stehen und in zwei Fällen auch das Orchester bilden. Um in der vorliegenden Arbeit Unklarheiten auf begrifflicher Ebene zu vermeiden, bezieht sich der Terminus Kinderoper im Folgenden, sofern nicht anders angegeben, auf jene Werke, deren Ausführende und Zielgruppe Kinder sind, ungeachtet der konkreten Ausprägung des jeweiligen Werkes.
