About the Book

English summary: The motivational effects of cooperative forms of teaching and learning and their mode of operation have not been well researched in sports studies until now. The design recommendations in this book are derived from systemic and learner-based perspectives that are geared towards a theoretical grounding for the construction of a learning environment that can be most effectively used in the cooperative learning in the classroom. A concrete realization is developed using the example of group puzzle and problem-solving exercises, which are evaluated for their applicability in sports education. Based on the theory of self-determination worked out by Deci and Ryan, the results of these designs and their positive, motivational effects in sports education have been empirically established. In addition, it can also be shown that the group puzzle-exercises had a particularly motivational effect on the participating students. This fourth volume in the series School-Sports Research describes a study in cooperative learning in sports education by Andrea von Kulmer. In this book, pedagogical findings concerning the development of learning environments that utilized the cooperative learning models are presented through the example of group puzzles and problem-solving. The result of this learning environment in sports education concerning motivational variable is investigated and described on the basis of a quasi-experimental study. Thus, cooperative learning through group puzzles and problem solving is presented as an effective practice of teaching and learning in sports education, which is based on current educational theory.
