Cependant, les cloches de Notre-Dame et les cris de joie masquent difficilement une rumeur sourde et pernicieuse qui enfle de plus en plus: Henri de Guise et ses frères convoitent ce trône qui leur semble si accessible. Les protestants menacent de soulever une armée dans le Midi pour délivrer leur chef Navarre. Grisé par sa nouvelle charge et par la volonté de faire le bonheur de ses sujets, Henri III se rend compte peu à peu des difficultés, des traîtrises et des cruautés qui parsèment le chemin d'un roi. Perdant un à un ses meilleurs amis, il s'aperçoit vite qu'il ne pourra faire confiance à personne...
About the Author: L'auteur: Né le 25 mars 1973 à Bar-le-Duc (Meuse), Hervé Bastien s'oriente dès le lycée vers des études littéraires et artistiques. Le Baccalauréat en poche, il entame des études de théâtre et de cinéma à la Faculté de Lettres de Nancy, fait partie de la Troupe Universitaire sous la direction de Denis Milos, où il se fait remarquer par Gilles Losseroy qui l'engage dans sa mise en scène du Coeur à Gaz de Tristan Tzara. Il se présente aux auditions annuelles du Conservatoire d'Art Dramatique du Centre de Paris et suit les cours d'Alain Hitier et de Philippe Perussel. Sorti du Conservatoire, le diplôme obtenu, il est retenu pour jouer dans diverses pièces: il jouera dans différents théâtres de la région parisienne des emplois de jeunes premiers amoureux avec, par exemple, le rôle d'Octave dans les Fourberies de Scapin, ou d'écorchés vifs avec le rôle d'Oreste dans Electre de Giraudoux, recevant à cette occasion les félicitations du fils de l'auteur de Ondine et de La Veuve de Chaillot pour son interprétation. Il jouera d'ailleurs ce rôle d'Oreste plus d'un an au Théâtre Espace Marais à Paris. Il donnera par la suite des cours d'Art Dramatique, créera des spectacles pour adolescents, participera à l'enregistrement de pièces à Radio France. Mais c'est dans l'écriture et la mise en scène qu'il souhaite dorénavant s'orienter. Encouragé par des amis scénaristes et écrivains, il écrit à 28 ans sa première oeuvre théâtrale La Fureur des Princes .
