Los hermanos Subhash y Udayan viven en un humilde barrio de Calcuta donde, durante la temporada de lluvias, un lecho seco entre dos lagunas se transforma en un gran espejo de agua. About the Author: Jhumpa Lahiri, nacida en Reino Unido de padres bengalíes, pasó su infancia y juventud en Estados Unidos. Es autora de cuatro libros de narrativa: El buen nombre, El intérprete del dolor, Tierra desacostumbrada y La hondonada, los tres últimos publicados por Salamandra. En otras palabras es su primera obra de no ficción. Ha sido galardonada con el Premio Pulitzer, el PEN/Hemingway y el Premio Frank O#Connor. En 2012 ingresó en la Academia Estadounidense de las Artes y las Letras y en 2015 recibió la Medalla Nacional de Humanidades.
