About the Book

English summary: Through the lens of the Gueguense, a fifteenth-century indigenous Nicaraguan satirical play that derides the Spanish, the present volume explores the history of the Sandinista movement of the later twentieth century. M. Hassan was a leading figure on all fronts in the movement, and traces the movement through its idealistic beginnings to the pitfalls and deceptions of the later Soviet and Cuban-supported dictatorial system.
