About the Book

English summary: This volume publishes two short comedies by Pietro Aretino (1492-1556), his first and his last, in a bilingual edition. Aretino was an Italian author, playwright, poet and satirist who wielded immense influence on contemporary art and politics. This scholarly edition contains an introduction, bibliographic references, a chronology of Aretino's life and works, philological annotations, and comments on the translation and the bilingual texts. Italian and French text.
