About the Author:
Giovanni Olivi gained his MD, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Rome "La Sapienza", Italy in 1986, and in 1989 was awarded his DDS, again Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Rome "Tor Vergata". Dr. Olivi has had expertise in clinical laser dentistry since 2000. In 2002 and 2004 he acquired Certificates of Proficiency in the use of laser in dentistry from the University of Florence and the International Society for Laser in Dentistry, respectively. In 2006 Dr. Olivi was awarded the Advanced Certificate of Proficiency and Achievement from the Academy of Laser Dentistry, Tucson, USA, and in 2009 he received a Certificate of Mastership from the Academy. Dr. Olivi has lectured on laser dentistry and oral laser application at postgraduate level at the Universities of Rome La Sapienza, Genoa, Florence, Nice Sophia Antipolis and Parma. Since 2010 he has been Professor a.c. in Endodontics at the School of Dentistry, University of Genoa. Dr. Olivi is an active member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry and in 2007 received the Leon Goldman Award for Clinical Excellence. He is the co-author of I Laser in Traumatologia Dentale (Edizioni Martina, Bologna) and of Laser Pediatric Dentistry: a User's Guide (Quintessence Publ., Chicago) and the author of 50 articles in Italian and international journals. Dr. Olivi is currently adjunct professor at the University of Genoa (Italy), School of Dentistry and Laser Dentistry Master Course and maintains his private practice in Rome.
Matteo Olivi is a native of Rome, Italy. He graduated in Dental Medicine from the University of Victor Babes, in Timisoara, Romania. In 2013 he completed the 940-nm diode laser course, achieving fellowship certification from World Clinical Laser Institute (WCLI); he also received certification for the use of 810-nm diode laser and the PIPS technique (Er: YAG laser). Dr. Olivi is a member of the Italian Society of Endodontics (SIE), the Italian Society of Pediatric Dentistry (SIOI), and the National Society of Italian Dentists (ANDI). He is co-author of six peer-reviewed articles on laser dentistry topics. Dr. Matteo joined his family's practice in Rome, where he utilizes cutting-edge laser techniques and CAD-CAM technology, especially in Periodontics, Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry. He is an instructor for Sirona soft tissue lasers.
