An angel's life is predetermined at birth by the system. Our lives can only be said to be a success or a failure, depending on that system. Rated by how high we rose up the ranks of this system's hierarchy.....

The last thing Zachary wanted to do was to upset or undo the existing order of celestial society when he set out to gain his first ascension up the hierarchy of the celestial order. For the first thousand plus years of his life, he had lived in the outlands and was contended with not attaining a rank at that stage of his life, but when his close friend Elimelech suddenly gains the divine favor and ascends to the position of cherub in the order, Zachary felt left behind and he is desperate to attain his own ascension. In the higher planes, there a millions of angels and among these millions of angels, there are seven hundred thousand cherubs and seraphs, seventy thousand dominions, seven thousands virtues, seven hundred powered, seventy principalities, seven archangels and one who sits on the throne of the almighty and bear the name of God. The average lifespan of an angel is thirty thousand years; if one is lucky they will live an additional three to five thousand years. Still many angels would live this long without ever attaining the rank of a cherub and seraph which is the lowest rank of the celestial order.

There was no particular order to which the system selected among the unranked for ascension, it wasn't base on strength or talent, there wasn't a particular determinant factor that decided who would ascend when there was an opening in a regiment and who wouldn't. It was all politics and the higher-ups decided who they wanted to ascend based on who they liked and favored and those they presume would show them and the old system absolute loyalty, the non-agitators as some would call them. The only means by which an angel could ascend that wasn't based on the desire or whim of the angels of the higher-ups and the only situation by which an ascended angel would be by no means indebted to anyone because they ascended solely based on merit was something called the survivals mission. After the ascension of his friend, Zachary desperate for his own ascension signed up to take on a survivals mission in order to begin his rise up the celestial rank.

The young angel's life unravels from the day he signed up for the survivals mission as he begins to discover things about his birth, secrets that had been deliberately kept from him, abilities that he never thought he had suddenly starts manifesting as he slowly came to understand that he is one of a kind, an angels of the higher plane that was different from every other angel of the plane. Zachary also discovers along the way, the dark secrets of the celestial higher ups, the lies that have been told to maintain the celestial system and keep he who is God and the archangels in power.
