Zugegeben, das ist leicht gesagt. Erlebt ist diese Erkenntnis weit schwieriger und es wird nicht unmittelbar leichter, wenn ich hinzufüge: Der Tod gehört zum Leben dazu, ja erst der Tod macht das Leben zu dem, was es ist - lebendig. Traditionen brechen auf, gesellschaftliche Muster werden immer weniger vorhersagbar, die Menschen werden Jünger der Individualisierung. Lebenswelten sind heute unzählbar plural, der Grad der Abstraktion wächst und Ulrich Beck spricht gar von einer Risikogesellschaft. Angesichts eines solchen Szenarios - woran sollen wir uns dann halten? Mit welcher Haltung können wir uns der Offenheit entgegenstellen? Es liegt in unseren Händen, was wir zu unserer Gewohnheit machen. Gewohnheit ist nichts weniger als Übung. Sich an den Tod zu gewöhnen, braucht Zeit - dann sollten wir uns zur Gewohnheit machen, den Tod zu üben. Der Tod ist omnipräsent. Kein Action-Film ohne Tote, kein Krimi ohne Leiche, kein Krieg ohne Opfer. Aber solange man endlos debattiert, ob es sich nun um Krieg oder kriegsähnliche Zustände handelt, solange Ärzte Patientenverfügungen gering schätzen, oder Kinder bei Ego-Shootern unbegrenzte Leben genießen, ist an der Übung etwas faul. In dieser Arbeit möchte ich veranschaulichen, inwieweit man dem tiefen Leben näher kommen könnte, indem man in sich den Tod vertieft. Ich möchte einen Habitus beschreiben, der in einer Spiritualität schwelgt, die vom Tode geküsst lebendig macht. Es ist dies kein absolut neuer Ansatz. Seit jeher machen Menschen sich über das Leben und im Besonderen über den Tod Gedanken. Doch Gewöhnung an den Tod braucht Zeit. Kultureller Wandel geschieht nicht von Heute auf Morgen.
