Inwiefern können Nähe und Distanz im schulischen Kontext zu einem Problem werden? Die Arbeit ist so gegliedert, dass zu Beginn die Professionalität im Lehrerberuf in den Blick genommen und dabei die Frage diskutiert wird, was letzten Endes "professionelles Lehrerhandeln" bedeutet. Im Anschluss daran werden die Begrifflichkeiten Nähe und Distanz im Rahmen des Spannungsfelds pädagogischer Professionalität erläutert und im letzten Hauptteil dieser Arbeit widmen wir uns einem Fallbeispiel und analysieren das Handeln einer Lehrerin im Hinblick der Nähe-Distanz Antinomie. Daran angeknüpft widmen wir uns der Frage inwiefern Lehrer_innen, realistisch gesehen, professionell mit der Nähe-Distanz Antinomie umgehen können. Schlussendlich kommen wir im Fazit auf die Ausgangsfrage zurück und nehmen dabei das Fallbeispiel in den Blick. Die Frage nach der Form von Professionalität bei der Ausübung des Lehrerberufs ist mindestens genauso alt wie der Lehrerberuf selbst. Infolgedessen ist die Anzahl der Quellen zwar reichhaltig, jedoch weitgehend veraltet. Aktuellere Literaturen, die die Professionalität des Lehrerberufs diskutieren, scheinen rar zu sein. Schließlich sind nach Roth und Strobel-Eisele "in der Rede von der 'professionellen Balance' zwischen Nähe und Distanz" Fragen zwar angesprochen, "aber noch keinesfalls ausreichend konkretisiert und ausbuchstabiert" (Roth 2013, S.10).
