Leaf and Leila are fraternal twins born in 1964 to a hippie couple. It's a time of euphoric enthusiasm for Eastern religions. Their parents, who are taking classes in a version of tantra yoga, enroll them in the kid's class right after their twelfth birthday. Although there isn't the briefest whiff of sexuality in these classes, they are unusually enthusiastic about their practice, and it becomes the centerpiece of their lives.But then, on a cold winter's night, they take the first step toward expressing their growing attraction to each other. By the time they're fourteen, the twins liken themselves to Shiva and Shakti and infer from tantric teachings that their own relationship is divine. At this point they become aware that a physical union might play a part in their quest for Divine Union.However, the path to that mystical experience turns out to be rockier and more complicated than originally anticipated. The danger of incest-whether real or imagined-raises obstacles, especially with their parents. Leaf becomes discouraged, but not Leila. Guided by her uncanny sense of intuition she eventually leads the two of them to what she has always envisioned as being their ultimate destiny.
About the Author: I have a BS in General Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and an MA in Spirituality from a Jesuit university. I've been a naval officer, an engineering writer, an executive recruiter, a human resources manager in both the private and public sectors and, for a short time, a teacher of tai chi and a fencing coach. I'm currently retired and living in Turlock, California. I can trace my interest in metaphysics back to when I was four years old. My parents were Roman Catholics. I was in the car with my mother one day, and as we passed a church she casually said, "That's where the Holy Ghost lives." That one statement seared into my brain and formed the foundation for my lifelong metaphysical interests. From that time until my graduation from high school I was a devout Catholic. Like many people, however, during my college years I abandoned my religion and became a borderline atheist. All that changed dramatically in 1966 as our ship headed to the Mediterranean. One night I had an experience that transformed the very fabric of my life: the experience of God's power. From that point onward, I had no doubt whatsoever in the existence of a higher power, the only question being the nature of that power. This lead to excursions through numerous theological and metaphysical systems: Hinduism, Buddhism/Taoism, the Erhard Seminars Training (est), back to Catholicism, and eventually to where I am today. Today my interest is in the nature of consciousness and its relationship to world of phenomena in which we exist. That is the impetus which forms the foundation for "The Leila Tantra" and led me to write it.
