La acción ocurre en 1982, semanas después que el actor John Belushi fuera encontrado muerto por una sobredosis de cocaína, y los Estados Unidos imponen un embargo a Libia, alegando el apoyo libio a grupos terroristas. Era una época en la que los teléfonos públicos usaban monedas, las estrellas de cine todavía caminaban por las calles, y la cirugía plástica facial, como las drogas, estaban en auge mientras Hollywood se resistía a crear papeles étnicos en sus películas.En este ambiente, mientras un equipo estadounidense estaba filmando una secuencia en una colina de Tijuana, Peter Pérez, uno de los actores, cae al vacío. Dado que la policía mexicana se hizo cargo del rescate y declaró que encontraron al actor muerto, sin ninguna explicación posterior, los medios comenzaron a especular: ¿accidente, suicidio, o tal vez un crimen?Jack, productor de la película con un elenco internacional, se reúne con sus dos amigos más cercanos: un detective privado y el guionista de la película. Uno, para tratar de determinar si se trató de un crimen para cobrar la póliza de seguro; el otro, para arreglar el guión y continuar filmando sin el actor.Peter fue una estrella de televisión en una exitosa serie hasta que fue cancelada. Gran derrochador, sin dinero y sin trabajo -un mal actor sólo contratado por su tipo físico- comenzó a mezclarse con narcotraficantes, prostitutas, traficantes de armas y sujetos del bajo mundo muy lejos de Hollywood.
About the Author: Carlos G. Groppa nació en Tres Arroyos, provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Estudió Arquitectura y Bellas Artes, hizo cine, produjo películas musicales con muñecos animados que fueron premiadas en Europa. En México fue libretista de los programas de televisión "Los Especiales de Silvia Pinal," y adaptador de la serie "Obras Maestras de la Literatura Universal." Es miembro Correspondiente de la Academia Porteña del Lunfardo, y autor de los libros "Desnúdese Madame," "Humor para Melancólicos" (cuentos), y "La Mujer que quería Asesinar a Hitchcock," entre otros. Ya radicado en los Estados Unidos escribió "The Tango in The United States," "El Tango desde Sunset Blvd.," los libro de cuentos "Con todo respeto," "Los casos de P.G." y "Historias sin mensaje," y la novela "A un costado de Sunset Blvd.." Desde 1996 edita la revista Tango Reporter en Los Angeles, ciudad donde reside.
