Intorno agli anni settanta del secolo scorso, diverse città spagnole come Siviglia o Barcellona conoscono lo sviluppo di comunità di giovani che si collocano ai margini della società perbenista. Sono gruppi di giovani e artisti che con il loro modo di essere trasgressivo, stimolano con simboli e forme gergali la nascita di nuove tipologie espressive nel campo dei valori, dei desideri e dell'esperienza sessuale. I protagonisti di questa stagione innescano una serie di spettri sociali e soggettivi che il regime franchista aveva sempre avversato (prigionieri, donne e omosessuali). Leopoldo María Panero non ha smesso di essere uno scrittore che ha criticato severamente la società spagnola e la Spagna di quegli anni, biasimando le sue ossessioni, il calcio e i toros, le cui origini si possono far risalire alla repressione sessuale che ha dovuto subire il popolo spagnolo nell'arco di quarant'anni. Altrettanto doloroso è stato per gli spagnoli il superamento di vecchi schemi e pregiudizi come quello per l'appunto dell'omofilia, sempre presa di mira sia da coloro che manifestavano di essere conservatori sia da quelli che si dichiaravano progressisti. Servendosi del materiale altrui, Panero intavola un dialogo perpetuo con la grande letteratura mondiale. Lo scrittore incoraggia il lettore a essere consapevole dell'origine del suo oggetto di riferimento, citandolo esplicitamente. Ciò consente al poeta di attivare un canale di comunicazione da un orizzonte culturale condiviso, il che rende il lettore partecipe del processo che ha generato il componimento e, quindi, di decifrarlo.In tempi come i nostri in cui la parola pare sottomessa all'oggettività e alla necessità e pare più non scoprire sé stessa e dare un contenuto di verità, la poesia di Panero pare ripartire dalla parola originaria, (lallazione, l'origine biologica del linguaggio del bambino) fino a quella matura e scrosciante veste del rivelare, quella parola che ha un fine necessario che non può fermarsi mai ed è la coscienza del profetizzare, del dire, dello smascherare.
