Aus diesem Grund behauptet Steininger, dass die Lernenden besser unter ihnen lernen, denn sie konstruieren gemeinsam ihr Wissen. Das heißt, die kooperative Unterrichtssituation sei die geeignete Gelegenheit für Schüler, um Input bzw. Kenntnisse unterschiedlicher Art zu bekommen. Die Qualität des Unterrichts besteht dann in dem Erreichen des Lernziels, das seinerseits von der Fähigkeit des Lehrers abhängt, seine Unterrichtsstunde so kooperativ wie möglich zu gestalten. Die Arbeit setzt sich mit dem lernwirksamen Unterricht auseinander, wobei die kooperativen Sozialformen die grundlegende Rolle spielt. Diese Sozialformen sollen bei der Unterrichtsplanung in Betracht kommen. Dabei wird der Beteiligung von Schülern und Schülerinnen am Unterrichtsgeschehen großen Wert gegeben, da Lernende untereinander kooperativ arbeiten bzw. interagieren. Die Diskussion über die didaktische Kompetenz ist für die Lehrpraxis sehr relevant, denn die Lehrer sollen diese Kompetenz besitzen, um ihre alltägliche Lehrtätigkeit besser zu gestalten. Die sozialen Interaktionen in Klassenräumen gehören auch zum Kern dieser unterrichtsmethodischen Diskussionen . Über die Rolle von Sozialformen behauptet Haß "Sie erfassen und beschreiben die unterschiedlichen personellen Konstellationen und die daraus resultierenden Beziehungsstrukturen der Lerngruppe".
