Harry prend ici le thème de l'infirmité psychique: il connait bien son sujet. Non pas pour s'en moquer, mais pour sublimer ces personnages dont la vie semble être un combat perdu d'avance. Heureusement que Berthe Philibert, leur logeuse, est là pour les accueillir. Elle aussi n'est pas un personnage ordinaire. Berthe vit avant tout dans son imaginaire en se délectant, la nuit, de flambys qui ne résistent jamais à sa bouche d'ogresse.
Qui sont ces locataires qui colonisent l'immeuble ? Des gens charmants que personne n'aimerait avoir pour voisin. Et pourtant, ils sont d'une touchante naïveté juste des inadaptés à la vie en société. Max Chapiteau, jadis magicien grandiose, devra désormais aménager sa vie soumise à la dure loi des TOCs. Madame Sandy Ducruit ex égérie des BN-Panoplies (BN comme Blanche Neige) et quelque peu anorexique se tournera vers l'Industrie des cosmétiques où elle testera les crèmes auto bronzantes. Madame Simone Meyor est catcheuse lilliputienne: la reine du ring. Pas facile quand on mesure 80 cm de haut de trouver des tenues de catch à sa taille. Restent Monsieur Parka, Monsieur Palmé et Monsieur Damier. Le premier fit la folie de s'acheter un habit à 4000 euros, Mais l'huissier est là pour lui rappeler qu'il faut toujours payer ses dettes. Le second n'a qu'une seule obsession: ne pas perdre un seul cheveux sur sa tête car ceci le rend fou. Quand au dernier, il n'a pas eu d'autre choix que d'être hystéropathe. Son rêve ? Connaître l'amour.
Oui, c'est un roman d'amour sincère et véritable qui pourra déconcerter les lectrices et les lecteurs qui iront jusqu'au bout de ce texte. Un roman dramatique porté une fois encore par un humour griçant.
