Fremde Welten in Deutschland 1870 - 1917., Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Das Münchner Oktoberfest 1959 war aus mehreren Gründen eine Jubiläumswies'n, auch wenn es bis zum runden hundertfünfzigsten Geburtstag noch ein Jahr dauern sollte. Oberbürgermeister Thomas Wimmer zapfte unter den "wehmütigen" Augen der Bedienung zum letzen Mal die erste Wies'nmaß. Das Original Franz Halmanseger, der bis zu seinem Tod 1962 vor dem Hippodrom als Rekommandeur im Reitfrack und Zylinder die Gäste in das Festzelt lockte, feierte gleichzeitig sein vierzigstes Arbeitsjubiläum und seinen fünfundsiebzigsten Geburtstag. Und der berühmte Schausteller Rudolf Feldl beschloss eine Völkerschau auf die Theresienwiese zu bringen, die sich im Nachhinein als die letzte ihrer Art auf dem Oktoberfest herausstellte. Die Zurschaustellung fremder, möglichst exotischer Kulturen und Menschen hatte auf der Wies'n eine lange Tradition; Feldl's Themenwahl für seine Völkerschau wurde vielleicht vom aktuellen Weltgeschehen beeinflusst: 1959 wurde Hawaii nach einem Volksentscheid als fünfzigster Bundesstaat Teil der USA und rückte daher näher in das Licht der interessierten Öffentlichkeit. Für die Forschung gereicht es zum Nachteil, dass die Feldlsche Völkerschau durch andere, damals als dringlicher angesehene Ereignisse überlagert wurde. Die Vernachlässigung der hawaiianischen Völkerschau geht so weit, dass sogar der offizielle Name der Attraktion unklar ist: Diese Arbeit ist daher eine Art Experiment: Obwohl die Kolonial- und Völkerschauen stärker in das Forschungsfeld der Neueren und Neuesten Geschichte gerückt sind, existiert keine Literatur über die Hawaiischau 1959. Die Recherche wird daher eine reine Spurensuche sein, offen nach allen Richtungen, um Quellen zu finden
