About the Book

THE LIFE AND TIMES OF "PARTY ARTIE"The older in age I became, the wiser I became. I learned to separate facts from feelings. Feelings are the things that will get to your head and cause you to make irrational decisions. Facts are the things that make you look at something logically and then make the best decision for you and your family. Memphis, Tennessee is one of those cities in which if you can make it and survive the woes of the city, then basically you can make it and survive anywhere. I know that statement sounds a bit cliché, but the upbringing in the city of Memphis is full of what we call slick talkers. A slick talker or fast talker is someone who is very charismatic in speech and is able without hesitation to manipulate a person or situation so the outcome will be in his/her favor; and the city is inundated with these types of personalities. Once you learn how to properly communicate, you will outwit the street system basically, and that's how and why I learned that reading is the basis of everything you do. You can't learn math if you don't understand reading, and you can't learn science if you don't understand reading, and if you happen to learn the basics of science without knowing how to proficiently read, this subject matter in the end will be very difficult. So, bottom line my point is being raised in the city of Memphis often makes it hard to become something or overcome obstacles without having common sense, and most times common sense is all you need to push forward, survive and thrive. If you know of someone who has achieved a status of wealth of some sort and that person grew up in the inner city of Memphis and was able to achieve this status independent of themselves and things not being handed to them or
passed down generationally, it's because they mastered the art of common sense. In today's generation, not having common sense makes it hard to simply survive in a city such as Memphis because the Internet has become so prevalent.
