L'Iliade et l'Odyssée Oeuvres majeures de la littérature mondiale, l'Iliade et l'Odyssée sont attribuées à Homère. Considérées comme les poèmes fondateurs de la civilisation européenne, ce sont les épopées de la Grèce Antique. Divisés chacun en vingt-quatre chants, appelés rhapsodies, l'Iliade et l'Odyssée constituent le plus vaste ensemble de la littérature grecque: un peu moins de 16 000 vers pour l'Iliade, un peu plus de 12 000 pour l'Odyssée. Deux épopées illustres totalement dissemblables dans leur conception. Récit de l'Iliade: Troie (Ilion en Grec) était une cité d'Asie Mineure gouvernée par le roi Priam. Ce dernier, ayant appris que son fils cadet Pâris serait responsable de l'incendie de Troie, décida de l'abandonner dès sa naissance dans la nature, en espérant qu'une bête féroce le dévore. Mais Pâris survécut. La guerre de Troie, dont le prétexte est l'enlèvement d'Hélène, épouse du roi ménélas, par le troyen Pâris, dure neuf ans quand commence l'Iliade. Le poème ne raconte ni l'origine, ni l'issue du siège de Troie par les Achéens. Il raconte un épisode de la guerre de Troie. Il porte sur des faits qui s'étalent sur une cinquantaine de jours et principalement autour de la colère d'Achille et de la tournure des événements dès lors que le héros reprend les armes pour venger son ami Patrocle... Récit de l'Odyssée: Le titre est basé sur le nom grec d'Ulysse: Odysseus. Ulysse, rentre chez lui après avoir activement participé à la guerre de Troie. Son retour sur l'île d'Ithaque prend dix ans, et est jalonné de nombreuses péripéties. En effet, il doit subir la colère des dieux et les épreuves qu'ils mettent sur sa route pour l'affaiblir, il rencontre également de nombreux personnages mythologiques: la nymphe Calypso, la princesse Nausicaa, les Cyclopes, la magicienne Circé et les sirènes. Plusieurs épisodes de la guerre de Troie qui ne sont pas présents dans l'Iliade sont aussi relatés dans l'Odyssée, comme la construction du Cheval de Troie et la ch
