Dopo 60 anni di ricerche negli archivi, avendo scritto tre volume best seller in inglese sulla Grande Guerra in Italia, l'autore, nativo statunitense, e residente in USA, adesso racconta in italiano. L'autore ha sovente visitato archivi a Roma, Vienna, Londra con comunicazine con Parigi e Berlino. Incomincia con l'assassinazione dell'arciduca Francesco Ferdinando. Conrtiene il testo completo ed originale in francese, poi tradotto in italiano dell'ultimatum di Vienna alla Serbia con risposta, seguito dalla mosse diplomatici anglo-francese-tedeschi. Segue la guerra con breve descrizione da personaggi italo-francese riguardo il conflitto. Dappertutto ci sono racconti d'ambedue i lati della trincea. Quando Vienna dondolava riguardo l'Articolo VII della Triplice Alleanza, Roma firmava il Tratto di Londra (testo intero) seguito dalle manovre politici del Parlamento italiano e la dichiarazione di guerra. L'Esercito era completamente impreparata, mancando di tutto, ma con grande costo umano, usando l'attacco frontale conquistava terreno. Sono descritti undici battaglia dell'Isonzo con il preludio della 12ma (Disfatta di Caporetto).. Nell'inizio contiene un prefazio accademico d'un professore della Boston University, USA, insieme con un glossario ed alla fine ci sono carte geografiche, appendice (schieramenti truppe (Caporetto e nave.) insieme con ed un indice e glossario molto dettagliato. Nell'appendice ci sono copie del Tratto di Londra, dell'ultimatum da Vienna alla Serbia e lo schieramento degli eserciti avversari. Nel periodo ante-Disfatta, le mosse degli esercitii sono pienamente esaminate come sono le mosse navale. Ci sono oltre 100 fotografie, e 21 carte geografiche e schizzi. Il

preludio della XIIa battaglia e' pienamente esaminato d'ambedue i lati della trincea, includendo la partecipazione

dell'Esercito germanese. Ci sono tante critiche dell'Esercito italiano. Per evitare il pensiero che questo lavoro sia

completamente critica nell'indice si svolge il tema di "lode " per l'Esercito italiano.
