About the Book

Pea never finished college or had much of a career. Pregnant and in love at nineteen, she happily married John, her best friend and the father of her child. But after nearly twenty-four years of blissful marriage, big, burly army ranger John is killed in a motorcycle accident just one mile from home, and Pea's beautiful life loses its color-except when she sleeps.

At night, John's spirit comforts Pea with memories of their life together. The sweet jaunt down memory lane is interrupted one night with flashes of future events-dark, devastating catastrophes. Soon, the sleep that was giving her relief begins to fill her with fear.

Meanwhile, Pea reconnects with her husband's best friend Allen, who is now a general working at the Pentagon, and eventually shares her frightening dreams with him, opening the door to an entirely new life.

Soon, Allen and two of his most trusted intelligence officers, one of whom is falling in love with Pea, are using her dream predictions to implement safeguards against terrorist attacks.

But trust is a tenuous thing, and when information about Pea is leaked beyond the inner circle, what had only disturbed her sleep starts to haunt her waking hours, too.

About the Author:

Audie Cockings is an avid observer of people. She holds a master's degree in adulthood and aging, serves as an eldercare consultant, and has published three health care articles. Through all the paperwork, her focus and value remains on her clients' individual needs and life stories. Cockings is fascinated by the history, namely, the elderly client's ability to chronicle the last century in the first person.

As the wife of a West Point grad and army ranger, and the mother of four kids, Cockings views world issues through the military families and other parents she encounters. She esteems their steadfast devotion to duty, honor and country.

Linking the interesting people she's met over the years with her long love of writing, Cockings created Little Red Rider, the emotionally complex and suspenseful tale of an army widow who is trying to start over but can't overcome her dark dreams.

Cockings is a Maryland native who enjoys cooking, painting, and gardening in her spare time.
