About the Book

'Lives Stranger than Fiction' is a collection of brief biographies of a galaxy of great men who lived at different and distant ages. It starts with the life of Socrates and ends with the life of Steve Jobs. All of them are distinguished in their own particular sphere of activity or different talents. At the same time there is something peculiar that made each of them different. It may be a fallacy or a flaw that made them miserable in life or something that made them great and happy in life. Here we have a heterogeneous group of men beginning with Socrates, the great Greek philosopher, Fra Lippo Lippi, the great painter and a lustful vagabond, Andrea del Sarto, the faultless painter and a miserable dotting husband, Shakespeare, the greatest literary genius, Milton, the God-gifted organ voice of England, Isaac Newton, the father of modern science, John Dryden, the greatest English Satirist, P.B.Shelley, a romantic poet and a revolutionary thinker, Robert Browning, the greatest Victorian writer of Dramatic Monologues, Dostoevsky, one of the greatest Russian Novelists, Hazlitt, a strong writer and a weak lover, Carlyle, a great writer and a miserable husband, D.G.Rossetti, a Romantic poet and a sensitive man, Albert Einstein, a school dropout; but the greatest scientist of the modern days, and the list ends with Steve Jobs, the computer wizard. Reading the lives of these great, different and distinguished men who left indelible marks on the sands of time, is very interesting, engaging and enlightening.
