About the Book

Living through Poetry is simply that, my life in the form of words. Often time's people struggle to say what on their hearts, out of fear of what others might think or say. Me too! When I find it hard to just come out and say how I feel, I always pick up a pen and paper. Poetry has become my way to tell my feelings, without actually having to face circumstances up close and personal.
About the Author: I, Tawana Butler-Bailey, was born December 24, 1983 at UAMS hospital in Little Rock, AR. I grew up in Pine Bluff, AR and was the only child of Roy and Joyce Butler. I graduated with honors from Dollarway High School in 2002. Life was just being to become exciting. I left Pine Bluff and moved to Jonesboro, AR. There I attended Arkansas State University. These were the best years of my life. I joined United Voices Gospel Choir. It was here that I met a few friends. Who knew over 12 years ago, that they would still be with me today? In the spring of 2004 things got really exciting. 7 Unsolved Mysteries of the Kappa Xi chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. were formed. Becoming a member was one of the proudest moments of my life. In December of 2006, the time had finally come. Just after 4 1/2 years, I was walking across the stage with a Bachelors of Science in Journalism and a minor in Criminal Justice. In was now time to turn over a new leaf in life. In the mix of all the hype, did I mention I was expecting my first child, TaNiyah Denise Bailey? She was the reason I was wanted to succeed so bad. She was born January 6, 2007. She changed my life forever. Through all of life's changes, I never stopped writing. I just collected all of my pieces, because I knew some day it would take me to new heights. January 2, 2009 I received another wonderful blessing, Caylon DeShawn Bailey. He was the most precious child in the world. Well, at least to me he was. I write because it makes me happy and I feel free. It is a great way to vent, and to make sense of the world by telling stories in my own words. Poetry is my life!
