About the Book

English summary: This book investigates the interdependent relationship between being and language within the context of the Aristotelian works Metaphysics, On Interpretation, and Topics. Accordingly, this work offers a contribution to ontological research. As two sides of the coin of reality and how they are chiefly identifiable for humans, being and language are perceived together. The question of being is always at the same time the question of language. The importance of language is that it makes perceptual access to being possible and that being becomes evident in language. Aristotelian philosophy understands itself in the consequence as primary knowledge and represents an overarching claim: basically, within the scope of questions about language and being, it can render everything a topic. Implicitly, therefore, nothing less than the possibility of language, communication and knowledge is sought after. Conversely, language and knowledge require a reference to the real, in order to be meaningful and significant. Under the premise of this double-perspective, Aristotelean philosophy is able to hold its claim to primary knowledge. The foundation of the basic mutuality is to ti en einai, Aristotles formula for essence, which probably with justice can be described as one of the most important central ideas of Aristotelean philosophy.
