Anno 2017: la giovane studiosa Lucia Balleani, sistemando e classificando i testi della biblioteca della fondazione Hoenstaufen, si ritrova a lavorare nell`antico palazzo che era stato la residenza della nobile famiglia Baldeschi-Balleani, di cui è diretta discendente. Una serie di visioni legate a quanto accaduto alla sua omonima Lucia Baldeschi, porterà il lettore a scoprire insieme a lei un`oscura vicenda svoltasi nello stesso luogo 500 anni prima. In una Jesi rinascimentale, ricca di arte e cultura, in cui stanno sorgendo nuovi e sontuosi palazzi sui resti dell'antica città romana vive una giovane contessina, Lucia Baldeschi. La ragazza è nipote di un malvagio Cardinale, tessitore di oscure trame finalizzate ad accentrare sia il potere temporale che quello ecclesiastico nelle proprie mani. Lucia, persona dotata di spiccata intelligenza, diventa amica di un tipografo, Bernardino, insieme al quale condividerà la passione per la rinascita delle arti, delle scienze e della cultura, che stanno caratterizzando il periodo in tutta Italia. Si troverà stretta tra il dovere di obbedire a suo zio, che l'ha fatta crescere ed educare a palazzo in assenza dei genitori, e l'amore appassionato per Andrea Franciolini, figlio del Capitano del Popolo e vittima designata della tirannia del Cardinale.La vicenda ci viene narrata anche attraverso gli occhi di Lucia Balleani, una giovane studiosa discendente del nobile casato. Nel 2017, esattamente 500 anni dopo i fatti, quest'ultima scopre antichi documenti nel palazzo di famiglia, e ricostruisce tutta la complessa storia di cui si erano perse le tracce.
About the Author: Stefano Vignaroli, nato a Jesi il 7 Aprile 1959, esercita la professione di Medico Veterinario ed ha sempre lavorato nel settore dei piccoli animali nella Provincia di Ancona. Come Veterinario dipendente della locale Azienda Sanitaria si è trovato spesso a collaborare con Polizia e Carabinieri in indagini e operazioni riguardanti traffici illeciti di animali o episodi di maltrattamento ai danni degli stessi. Grande appassionato di cani, ma anche di montagna e di musica jazz, ha esordito nella primavera 2011 con la prima avventura del Commissario Caterina Ruggeri, DELITTI ESOTERICI. Sono seguiti "I Misteri di Villa Brandi" e "Il diario di uno psicopatico", due romanzi che hanno la stessa protagonista del primo, la brava e intelligente Commissario di Polizia Caterina Ruggeri, che inizia la sua carriera proprio nella Polizia Cinofila. Di recente uscita il romanzo storico "L`ombra del Campanile", storia ambientata nella sua città, Jesi, agli inizi del XVI secolo.
