About the Author: When Peter Larner moved to Upminster in 1987 he wasn't to know that the now-legendary hurricane that accompanied his move would prove to be the inspiration for his first novel. Jack Daly, the unlikely hero of Lost in a hurricane is seeking more convenient employment that would enable him to look after his mother, who is suffering from Alzheimer's disease. But his new job draws him into a clandestine world of political intrigue and global conspiracy. The UK Government and other world powers are seeking to gain control of the weather and it's Jack's job to convince the media that the increased incidence of severe weather is simply the result of global warming. His manipulation of the media leads him to become a murder suspect when two local people go missing. Haunted by the childhood memories of events in Woolly Fold Wood, it seems that Jack's only friends, in this shadowy world, are his feisty Italian girlfriend and her artisan gangster brother. The author hopes to write a series of books based on his vacillant hero, Jack Daly. "I have already begun work on Deathbed Confessions, a more serious adventure for Jack. However, mixing a responsible full-time job with my interest in writing probably means the second book will not be published for another year. I enjoyed writing Lost in a hurricane and it is a great thrill to see my first work on sale. It's a long-time ambition realised".
