About the Book

Agana Taitano Hofstadter, a brilliant young expert in cryptanalysis, is summoned to Ennea-a dark, inhospitable planet, shrouded in mystery, whose only inhabitants are the enigmatic Enneans. As she struggles to manage a debilitating psychological illness, she soon uncovers a world-changing conspiracy. In a race against time, Taitano and her colleagues must work together to save the enigmatic Enneans, and themselves, from certain destruction

.

Agana Taitano Hofstadter, a brilliant young expert in cryptanalysis, floats deep in the Pacific Ocean, decrypting the fuse of one of the last chemical weapons dumped into the sea over two hundred years ago. As she struggles with a debilitating psychological illness-obsessive compulsive disorder mixed with high anxiety-she risks her life, disarms the bomb, and is then chided by her dolphin mentor, Professor Sun.

Professor Sun tells Taitano that the Enneans-enigmatic aliens who saved the Earth over a hundred years ago from a massive solar flare-have summoned her to their home planet of Ennea, as part of an exchange program. Taitano is reluctant to go due to her illness, but her cantankerous grandfather persuades her to follow her destiny and undertake the mission.

She journeys ten light years to Ennea, the home planet of these mysterious aliens, with whom we are still struggling to communicate. Included in her team are an arrogant cybernetically enhanced human, Saiyam Patel, and another star student, an irrepressible dolphin named Fastcatch, who is constantly (and humorously) at odds with Patel. When they arrive at Ennea and begin their work deep under the sub-terranean ocean where the Enneas live, they soon discover a plot by the monomaniacal Resident Director Frank Church-the officious leader of the humans and dolphins who have been on Ennea for decades-to terraform the world for human and dolphin colonization. And the orders have come from the United Nations Ennean Exchange Commission itself!
