Länder - Neuzeit, Absolutismus, Industrialisierung, Note: 1,7, FernUniversität Hagen (Historisches Institut, Lehrgebiet Geschichte und Gegenwart Alteuropas), Veranstaltung: Geschichte Frankreichs im 16. und 17. Jahrhundert, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: (...) und es stellten sich mir immer mehr Fragen: Wurde die Hofgesellschaft gezielt von Ludwig gebildet oder war es ein schleichender Prozess, der in Kauf genommen wurde? Falls sie "geplant" war, welche Intention hatte Ludwig dabei? Die nächste Frage war, welcher Personenkreis eigentlich die Hofgesellschaft bildete und welche Normen für diese Gruppe eine Rolle spielten. Kann bei der Hofgesellschaft in Versailles von einem Prototyp der höfischen Gesellschaft gesprochen werden? Diesen Fragen wollte ich nachgehen. Um sie zu beantworten, scheint es mir sinnvoll, zu-nächst einmal ganz kurz aufzuzeigen, wie sich Hof und Hofgesellschaft vor der Zeit Ludwigs entwickelt hatten. Darauf folgen ein Überblick über die Herrschaftszeit Ludwigs XIV. sowie über sein Selbstverständnis als Herrscher. Die grobe Kenntnis von Ludwigs Regierungszeit sowie von seinem Selbstverständnis ist hilfreich beim Verständnis des Auf-baus und der Funktion der Hofgesellschaft. Der nächste Schritt ist dann eine genaue Beschreibung der Zusammensetzung der Hofge-sellschaft nach deren Hauptgruppen, dem Adel, den Ministern und Beamten, den Künstlern und den Mätressen. Schließlich muss das Augenmerk auch auf Ludwig selbst gerichtet werden, wie er sich für die, und innerhalb der Hofgesellschaft in Szene setzte. Die Überlegungen zur Intention Ludwigs bei der Ansiedelung des Adels am Hofe in Versailles stehen im Zusammenhang mit den Betrachtungen zur Selbstinszenierung Ludwigs, denn ohne Publikum keine Selbst-inszenierung. Ein Teil der Inszenierung, der die Höflinge aber stark betraf und vor allem die Höflinge als Teilnehmer brauchte, war das höfische Zeremoniell, das in einem geson-derten
