Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2023 im Fachbereich Philosophie - Epochenübergreifende Abhandlungen, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird das Verhältnis von clinamen und Willensfreiheit in Lukrez' De rerum natura erörtert und anhand von Henri Bergsons Lukrez-Edition sowie aus der Perspektive von dessen späterer Dissertation, Zeit und Freiheit, kritisch analysiert, wobei der Ansatz verfolgt wird, Lukrez' Position zunächst im begrifflichen Rahmen der aktuellen Willensfreiheitsdebatte zu verorten. Das erfordert zunächst, dass das clinamen in die Reihe der Bewegungsursachen bei Lukrez eingeordnet wird und danach unter Zuhilfenahme bestimmter begrifflicher Unterscheidungen, die in der aktuellen Literatur zur Willensfreiheit eingesetzt werden - positive und negative Freiheit, Willens- und Handlungsfreiheit, Determinismus und Indeterminismus, Kompatibilismus und Inkompatibilismus -, Lukrez' Position klarer herauszuarbeiten und von anderen theoretischen Optionen abzugrenzen. Des Weiteren wird die Relevanz der Möglichkeit und Wirklichkeit von Willensfreiheit für die epikureische Ethik beleuchtet. Denn die naturphilosophisch-metaphysischen Überlegungen sollen als Grundlage für Lukrez' Ziele in der praktischen Philosophie erwiesen werden, nämlich die Selbstbeherrschung und Ermächtigung des Geistes im Verhältnis zur Welt und was daraus für unser gesellschaftliches Handeln folgt. Jedoch ist zu fragen, wie kompatibel in diesem Fall die theoretische und die praktische Philosophie der Epikureer miteinander sind und von welcher Perspektive aus Lukrez bzw. Epikur (primär) denken, d.h., ob es einen Primat der Physik oder einen der Ethik gibt. Im Anschluss wird die Nähe und Ferne von Lukrez' Ansatz zu dem Bergsons genauer betrachtet, indem Bergsons Lukrez-Interpretation in dessen Edition herangezogen wird. Abschließend wird Bergsons Darstellung und Kritik des Determinismus in den Fokus genommen, da dieser sowohl für ihn als auch für Lukrez unvereinbar mit der mensc
