Le 18 mars 2006 a 13 heures, le presentateur du journal televise d'une grande chaine annonca sur les ecrans que le doyen de l'humanite etait un japonais, age de 111 ans, mais que le doyen des francais etait un corse de 106 ans, originaire d'un petit village du sud de la Corse. L'homme s'appelait Joseph Bonaventure. Cette information, legere pour l'Hexagone, etait on ne peut plus importante pour l'ile de beaute. L'information s'arreta la, n'ayant dure que 30 secondes. Mais pour la television locale, c'etait une information interessante qu'il convenait d'approfondir. La redaction de la television regionale mit sur pied une equipe pour enqueter sur ce sujet tres interessant. Les premieres recherches furent lancees. On interrogea les archives regionales et on trouva un Joseph Bonaventure qui vivait dans le petit village de Granace. Des contacts furent tentes mais toutes les tentatives resterent lettres mortes. Le sujet fut donc laisse de cote. Mais une jeune journaliste obtint l'autorisation de continuer les investigations. Elle reprit toutes les informations recueillies et les approfondit. Elle trouva une piste interessante et se rendit au siege de l'Association des petits proprietaires terriens corses, dont Joseph Bonaventure faisait partie. Mais elle fut gentiment reconduite. Elle insista mais elle fut refoulee et commenca a se demander pourquoi. Qui donc etaient ces proprietaires ? Elle axa son enquete sur les membres de cette association et, a force de chercher, finit par trouver la liste de ses membres. La journaliste savait qu'elle tenait la un sujet interessant. Mais il convenait de se montrer prudent car elle risquait de devoir subir des manoeuvres d'intimidation. Pour ne pas dire des menaces. Mais l'attrait du scoop etait trop fort. Elle presenta le resultat de ses investigations au chef de sa redaction. Mais, plutot que de la feliciter, il lui exposa les risques encourus et lui demanda de cesser ses recherches. Elle refusa, lui disant que le but initial etait de faire un reportage sur le doyen des francais. Le chef la menaca indirectement, lui disant que cela nuirait a sa carriere. Elle fit mine de ceder mais resta ferme sur ses positions. Elle continua ses recherches, multipliant les investigations. Elle pensait pouvoir tenir le moyen d'approcher Joseph Bonaventure mais ceux qu'elle essayait de contacter se manifesterent. Un matin, elle trouva toutes les vitres de sa voiture brisees. C'etait un premier avertissement. Un autre jour, elle trouva ses quatre pneus creves. Deuxieme avertissement. Mais rien n'y fit. Sa determination restait intacte. Deux jours plus tard, sa voiture disparut. Le lendemain, les policiers retrouverent sa voiture brulee. La menace semblait se preciser. Il lui fallait donc agir pour ne pas laisser l'initiative a ceux qui cherchaient a l'intimider. Elle etait corse, elle aussi, et il en fallait plus que cela pour l'intimider. Elle detenait une information importante: la liste des membres de l'association des proprietaires terriens. Elle choisit deux membres et se decida a entrer en contact avec eux. Sa determination finit par payer et elle parvint a obtenir un rendez-vous avec Joseph Bonaventure. Ce dernier se trouvait dans une maison de retraite et accepta de lui raconter l'histoire de sa famille, la famille Bonaventure, et la vie de ses quatre freres, meles de pres ou de loin aux acteurs corses qui firent les colonnes des faits divers de nombreux journaux, depuis le debut du 20eme siecle jusqu'au debut du 21eme siecle. C'etait l'histoire de ce que l'on appela l'Union Corse.
