Am 5. Dezember 1858 wurde das Münchner Marionettentheater als fünfte Schaubühne der Stadt mit Poccis Zauberspiel Prinz Rosenroth und Prinzessin Lilienweiß eröffnet. Von nun an bis an sein Lebensende schrieb Franz von Pocci insgesamt 41 Komödien, Einakter, Prologe und Zwischenspiele für diese Bühne. Die Pocci-Werkausgabe bringt erstmals seit 100 Jahren wieder diese Casperl-Stücke, so wie sie Pocci selbst in seinen Lustigen Komödienbüchlein zusammengestellt hat. Sie sind zwischen 1859 und 1877 in sechs Bändchen erschienen, das letzte ein Jahr nach seinem Tod. About the Author: Franz Graf von Pocci (*7. 3. 1807 Munchen, +7. 5. 1876 Munchen) war Schriftsteller, Zeichner und Komponist. Der Sohn eines Offiziers italienischer Herkunft und einer sachsischen Baronin war nach dem Studium der Rechtswissenschaften in Landshut und Munchen kurze Zeit als Jurist in Starnberg und Dachau tatig und wurde 1830 Zweiter Zeremonienmeister Konig Ludwigs I. von Bayern. Seit 1847 Hofmusikintendant, wurde Pocci 1864 Oberstkammerer am Hof Ludwigs II. Der vielseitig gebildete Pocci verkehrte im Kreis um Joseph von Gorres, schloss sich Guido Gorres an und wurde eine markante Figur der spateren Munchner Romantik und des Biedermeier. Beruhmt wurde Pocci durch seine selbstillustrierten Kinderbucher, Puppen- und Schattenspiele sowie Kasperlkomodien fur Joseph Leonhard Schmids Munchner Marionettentheater, in denen er auch zeitgenossische Erscheinungen satirisch kommentierte. Pocci war als Komponist tatig, schrieb Dramen und Marchen, illustrierte Lieder- und Kinderbucher und war satirischer Zeichner der Fliegenden Blatter. Sein mit rund 600 Nummern erhaltenes kompositorisches Werk umfasst eine Oper, Lieder, Chor- und Kammermusik sowie Klavierwerke. Er war unermudlicher Zeichner und Aquarellist. Rund 10.000 Zeichnungen, Skizzen und Aquarelle von ihm sind erhalten. Pocci war Mitbegrunder des Historischen Vereins von Oberbayern und Mitglied verschiedener Gesellschaften, deren Vereinsleben er karikierte. F
