The Magic Drum And Other Favourite Stories is a book that features stories for children that have been handpicked by Sudha Murthy. As a child, Sudha Murthy had heard some of these stories from her grandmother, and others were told to her by her friends from across the world.
For years, these timeless and delightful folktales have been her favorites, and these stories have been specifically tailored in order to appeal to children of all age groups. Kings and misers, wise men and foolish boys, princes and paupers, and the oddest and funniest men and women come to life in this collection of stories. A clever princess who wants to marry the man who succeeds in asking her a question that she is unable to answer, the greedy uncles of an orphan boy who are outwitted with a bag of ash, and a magic drum that saves a suffering old couple are some of the highlights in this collection.
The stories also feature interesting characters like a shepherd who has a bag of words and a princess who believes that she is a bird and that she can fly.
