Sowohl Don Quijote de la Mancha als auch die Novelas ejemplares reflektieren dabei ein Bild der Gesellschaft, wie es die Forschung bis vor kurzem nicht für möglich gehalten hätte. Mitnichten konnte nach Ende des gottesfürchtigen Mittelalters die Rede davon sein, dass der Glaube an die Existenz von Zauberern und Fabelwesen gänzlich vernichtet worden war. Der Aberglaube hatte in den Köpfen des Volkes überlebt und wurde im Siglo de Oro durch die Wiederentdeckung antiker und arabischer Schriften, die eine vergessen geglaubte Vielfalt an mythischen Wesen und Göttern offenbarten, wieder von Neuem entfacht. Der Glaube an Wunder, Weissagungen und die Wirkkraft magischer Handlungen zog sich dabei durch alle Gesellschaftsschichten - vom Bauer bis hin zum Priester - und war Teil der zeitgenössischen Realität. In Cervantes' Werk erleben wir eine für die Zeit bemerkenswert kritisch-parodistische Auseinandersetzung mit dem kontroversen Gebiet des Aberglaubens und seinem Einfluss auf Mensch und Kultur.
About the Author: Janina Klinck, geboren 1985 in Kiel, entdeckte während eines Au-Pair-Aufenthalts in Madrid ihre Leidenschaft für die spanische Sprache, Geschichte und Kultur. Wieder zurück in Deutschland, nahm sie an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum ihr Studium der Romanischen Philologie und Anglistik auf und wechselte zwei Jahre später in ihre Heimatstadt an die Christian-Albrechts-Universität, wo sie 2013 erfolgreich ihren Master of Arts absolvierte. Während ihres Studiums beschäftigte sich die Autorin eingehend mit der Literatur des Siglo de Oro, ihren bedeutenden Vertretern und der vielfältigen Kultur, die diese faszinierende Epoche der spanischen Geschichte hervorbrachte. Das kontroverse Gebiet der (Un-)Vereinbarkeit von Gottes- und Aberglauben motivierte sie schließlich, sich mit den zeitgenössischen kulturhistorischen Hintergründen und ihrer kritisch-parodistischen Aufarbeitung im cervantinischen Werk auseinanderzusetzen. Nach mehreren Praktika im Verlagswesen, arbeitet Janina Klinck heute als freischaffende Autorin und Lektorin.
