Maria Teresea H. de Holcomb is a Mexican playwright and author who holds advanced degrees from both American and Mexican colleges. She taught college-level Spanish and Spanish literature courses for twenty-six years, publishing three textbooks over the course of her career.
After taking a course on immigration at Yale University, de Holcomb discovered her passion for encouraging woman, especially immigrants, to pursue the lives they desire. This passion led to her first collection of short plays, highlighting the plight of migrant women and the struggles they face.
About the Author: Lucy spent her childhood indulging in imaginary companions and fantasy. Now a librarian with a wide range of intellectual interests, she's locked in an old extension of the library with nothing to do but read and dream.
After a set of books on the Spanish conquistadors catch her attention, Lucy mentally summons two of the most influential players in the conquest of Mexico: Hernan Cortes and his translator, a Native American Indian long derided as a traitor-a woman named Malinche.
In Time, Malinche, in Time explores Malinche's role in the ongoing conflict between Spanish and Mesoamerican cultures and her place as the mother of those caught between the two, the Mestizos.
Applying Jungian psychology to Malinche's life and struggles, playwright Maria Teresea H. de Holcomb demonstrates how history really does repeat itself, and how the archetypes of Mexico of the early 1500s resurface in North American cities in the 1990s.
Join Lucy as she delves into a rich world of visions, imagination, and historical fact, taking both audience and librarian deep into the mind and soul of Malinche, while humanizing a woman long demonized by history.
